Getting There

Wrotham Park Lodge is located in Far North Queensland, 300km west of Cairns, in a spectacular setting on a sprawling 600,000 hectare working cattle station.

Getting to Cairns

Regular flights are available from all Australian capital cities with Qantas, Jetstar or Virgin Blue to Cairns.

Transfer between Cairns and Wrotham Park Lodge

The scenic flight between Cairns and Wrotham Park takes in Tinaroo Falls, Mareeba Wetlands and Mount Mulligan; whilst the return flight flies over Port Douglas and along the coastline down to Cairns. The flight path is subject to air traffic control and weather conditions. All flights to and from Wrotham Park Lodge operate in daylight hours only.

Guests arriving by air transfer will be greeted at the Wrotham Park Lodge private airstrip by one of the resort managers and transferred to The Homestead, approximately 5 minutes away.

Please allow 1 hour between your flight into Cairns and your transfer departure time for domestic connections and 2 hours for international connections.

Air transfers should be booked at the same time as your accommodation online or with one of our friendly consultants. Regular fights to Wrotham Park Lodge require a minimum of 21 days advance purchase. If booking inside this time, regular flights may not be available, however you will still have the option to privately charter an aircraft. All flights are subject to availability.

Regular Air Transfers

Regular air transfers operate on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from Cairns to Wrotham Park Lodge and on Thursday, Saturday and Monday from Wrotham Park Lodge to Cairns. This service operates on a fixed departure time.

Private charter transfers are also available between Cairns and Wrotham Park Lodge.

Luggage Restrictions
Passengers are restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each. Soft suitcases are preferable. A limit of 32kg (maximum) e.g. 28kg check in luggage and 4 kg carry on applies (subject to loading restrictions). Luggage storage facilities are available at the Cairns General Aviation Terminal.

Dangerous goods must not be carried in (or as) passenger or checked baggage or carry-on baggage. This includes flammable liquids such as camping fuel.

The drive to Wrotham Park Lodge takes you through an ever changing landscape, from the Great Barrier Reef coastline, up onto the tropical and wet tablelands, well known for their production of fruits and vegetables, into the flat, rugged and harsh landscape of the outback. The colours will amaze you as they change from blue to green and finally orange.

A four-wheel drive vehicle with a UHF or satellite phone is required as some sections of road are unsealed. In partnership with Avis, a Self Drive Package can be added on to your accommodation. This package offers Wrotham Park Lodge guests insurance past Chillagoe, which is outside of standard car rental arrangements.

Please call the resort directly on +61 2 9364 8100 prior to your departure from Cairns and Chillagoe, for updated safety precautions during you journey and to notify the resort of your arrival time. Upon arrival at the resort your vehicle will be valet parked for the duration of your stay as guest vehicles cannot be used on private roads at Wrotham Park Lodge.
